Poster Collection 07 gathers the most important posters of Armin Hofmann, and shows them – corresponding to his fundamental importance as a graphic design teacher – in a context with works from his most famous students, who continued his methods. After completing an apprenticeship in lithography, Armin Hofmann (born 1920) began teaching his own typographic principles at the Basel School of Design in 1947. He and his colleagues who contributed to the development of Swiss international Style, advocated a belief in absolute and universal graphic expression. Hofmann has also taught at Yale and the Philadelphia Museum School of the Arts. In 1965 he wrote the “Graphic Design Manual”, which is regarded as a fundamental work in the field of modern graphic design and art.

Armin Landeck, an American realist whose graphic career spanned more than half of the twentieth century, was trained as an architect but devoted his life to etching, creating his first print in 1927.A brief period of study under Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17 in New York City introduced Landeck to copper engraving, establishing his subsequent fascination with the burin and all it can do. For the rest of the l940s Landeck often used both drypoint and engraving on the same plate, but after 1950 he produced only copper engravings with the exception of three wood engravings in 1958.This revised edition of a book first published in 1977 has been completely rewritten and expanded to include prints not known when the first edition was published plus the prints made by the artist from 1977 till his death in 1984. The first edition contained 127 prints and states; 164 prints and states are now pictured and described.An important addition to this book outlines Landeck’s participation in many national print exhibitions such as those at the Library of Congress and the Society of American Etchers. Reflecting the growing appreciation of Landeck’s work, the list of public institutions that have Landeck prints in their permanent collections has grown from the first edition’s thirty-one to this edition’s ninety-six. A new section entitled "Notes on the Prints" gives in-depth information on many Landeck prints. An extensive bibliography is another feature of this second edition.

For more than 20 years, German photographer and filmmaker Armin Linke (born 1966) has been photographing the effects of globalization, the wholesale transformation of infrastructure and the networking of the post-industrial society via digital information and communication technologies.His photographs show that the modern world is a massive profusion of data, where the material infrastructures―consisting of computer centers, data highways and server rooms―are largely invisible.For The Appearance of That Which Cannot Be Seen, Linke invited scientists, philosophers and theoreticians to examine his picture archive. Ariella Azoulay, Bruno Latour, Peter Weibel, Mark Wigley, and Jan Zalasiewicz made a selection of images and in the process opened up Linke’s photos to a variety of different readings.

Released in conjunction with the exhibition organized by the Pasadena Museum of California Art in collaboration with the Crocker Art Museum, Armin Hansen: The Artful Voyage presents over two hundred reproductions and photographs, as well as a detailed biography and chronology, depicting Hansen's artistic legacy and his love for Monterey's fishermen and the setting in which they worked.
