Let's start with a curiosity. On the label (which is, by the way, very beautiful) of this Isola Bianca, there is an unusual killer bunny. It is an unusual and grotesque image that appears on ancient illuminated manuscripts. Harmless little beasts that turn into dangerous tormentors, wielding weapons with the dexterity of knights. A sort of upside-down world, very much in vogue between the 13th and 16th centuries, and a tribute to the irony of the amanuensis friars. This wine represents the synthesis of the large vineyard owned by Teruzzi. The grapes used to produce it, in fact, Vernaccia di San Gimignano in purity, come from both the Racciano and Ponte Rondolino areas, from vines of various ages, from 8 to 15 years old. Vinified and aged exclusively in steel, the result is a fresh and graceful wine. Straw yellow of beautiful intensity, the nose has fruity notes, well integrated with mineral hints typical of the vine. The taste is pleasant, of good complexity, with an excellent balance between acidity, structure and persistence, in which the floral notes alternate with citrus notes, thus enhancing the most authentic and luminous characteristics of the type. Just as typical is its slightly bitter finish. A wine of excellent drinkability.

If Capichera is one of the Sardinian wineries most appreciated in the world by experts and enthusiasts, it is also (and perhaps above all) because of the long experimental work it has carried out over the years, particularly on the use of Vermentino. One of Capichera's great challenges, in fact, was to be the first to vinify Vermentino in barriques. And this VT, or Vendemmia Tardiva, was born precisely from this process. After vinification, in fact, VT remains in the cellar for at least two years from the harvest. It can thus express its strong, unmistakable and profound character, so much so that it is often considered the most representative wine of Capichera's high quality. Straw yellow in colour with slight golden reflections, this wine appears very clear in the glass, with intense and complex aromas. Notes reminiscent of orange blossom, lemon, aromatic herbs. Then wisteria, lavender flowers, liquorice and citrus honey. In the mouth, however, it is pleasantly dry but at the same time warm, rich and pulpy, with citrus and honeyed tones. The finish is long and caressing with great aftertaste persistence. Fish and shellfish dishes. Fabulous with lobster.

If the category had already been created, this important red wine could fall into the Supersardo typology, winking at the famous Supertuscans that in recent years have enjoyed great success on the main world markets. After all, this Montessu di Agripunica is the result of a collaboration between the Sardinian winery Santadi and Tenuta San Guido, who certainly know their way around "Super" wines. This red wine, in particular, is the soft, velvety and powerful expression of the Sulcis area in Sardinia. Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, this robust and important red wine comes from a successful blend of different grape varieties. Carignano, in clear predominance, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, in small percentages. Grapes from the Narcao and Barrua estates in Santadi, where the soils are stony and composed of sand, clay and limestone. Each grape variety is vinified separately and the different wines are then transferred to barriques. The final blend, on the other hand, is created in vitrified cement tanks, where the wine rests for about 40 days. Ruby red colour with violet reflections, the nose has intense aromas, with clear memories of red fruits and aromatic herbs that recall the Mediterranean. In the mouth Montessu reveals flavours of dark red fruit. Soft and savoury, it has clear hints of caper, rosemary and black pepper. The finish is persistent and silky. A wine to be uncorked on the occasion of important dinners, Montessu goes well with grilled meats, sliced meats or medium and long aged cheeses.

Lajcheddu is an excellent Sardinian Passito. Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, is a golden nectar that comes from the sunny hills of Tenute Tondini. Here the Mediterranean climate, characterised by mild winters and warm summers, combined with sea breezes and limestone-marly soils, create an ideal environment for growing Moscato. The vineyards are located 350 metres above sea level where the grapes are able to reach full ripeness, concentrating aromas and sugar. After natural drying, vinification begins with a pre-fermentative maceration phase. This is followed by soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation, which, in this case, takes place in 550-litre oak barrels. This complex process allows their intense golden colour, complex aromas and natural sweetness to be extracted from the grapes. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful deep golden colour with amber highlights. The nose reveals an intense and persistent bouquet reminiscent of overripe yellow fruit, such as apricot and peach, with notes of dried fruit, honey and dates. In the mouth, Lajcheddu Passito conquers with its enveloping and persistent sweetness. The acidity is well balanced, giving the wine a pleasant freshness and a lingering, pleasantly sweet finish.

The aim of producing red wines to match its whites has led Capichera to select over the years the best-known indigenous black grape varieties of Sardinia. Thus Assajé was born, a successful blend of those typical Sardinian grape varieties to which a small percentage of Syrah was added. It was 1997 and that wine represents the realisation of a dream. An elegant and fragrant wine, it hides power, structure and above all a clear identity in a pleasant sip. IGT Isola dei Nuraghi, all the grapes used for this red wine come from our own vineyards. Vineyards of various ages, trained with the classic spurred cordon but also with the traditional bush system, capable of producing high quality grapes, in exchange for a decidedly high level of commitment in the vineyard. The harvest takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October. After a transformation in steel tanks, the wine matures partly in cement tanks. Assajé is a wine with very high ageing potential. It is one of those reds that should always be bought in at least two or three bottles at a time, to enjoy one immediately and let the others mature slowly in the cellar. While waiting, of course, to find the right occasion to share them with lifelong friends. We will thus discover a wine characterised by a beautiful intense red colour, with violet reflections that will tend to fade as the years go by. The nose has ethereal and vinous notes, with black fruits, cherries in alcohol, blackberries, myrtle, spices, eucalyptus, cocoa and salty notes. In the mouth, on the other hand, you will discover a wine characterised by a full, warm taste, with a nice, rich, ripe fruit and fine, perfectly ripe tannins. The finish, needless to say, will be long and persistent. Game is the right accompaniment. But also a very tasty first course such as pappardelle dressed with a thick meat sauce. Like the ones they used to make in the past.

Today we find ourselves in the heart of Sardinia. This is where Siddaju, Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, was born. A structured red wine produced by Tenute Tondini. From 40% Carignano grapes, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Nebbiolo, this wine encapsulates the essence of a unique and fascinating territory. The grapes ripen on soils composed of pink granite, at an altitude of around 350 metres above sea level. The climate here is Mediterranean, characterised by mild winters and warm, breezy summers. The three grape varieties that make up Siddaju are harvested by hand at the right stage of ripeness. Once in the cellar, they ferment in steel for 30 days, a period that allows the maximum colour, aromas and structure to be extracted from the fruit. This is followed by ageing in French oak barrels for at least 12 months, which gives the wine complexity and elegance. Intense ruby red colour with garnet hues, the nose reveals a complex and enveloping bouquet with notes of blackberry jam and blackcurrants. Spicy hints of chocolate and tobacco are then added. In the mouth, it reveals itself to be a pleasantly smooth wine, characterised by a full and elegant body. The tannins are well structured but velvety. The persistence is long and pleasant, with a mineral finish that invites another sip.

The Elat, Isola dei Nuraghi IGT by Cantine Sardus Pater is a fresh, young white wine, produced from the characteristic red grapes of Sulcis and vinified in white, i.e. without tank contact between skins and must. The white vinification of Elat takes place in steel at low temperatures, followed by 6 months of ageing on fine lees with daily btonnage. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful yellow colour with auburn reflections, unique in its kind, obtained also thanks to careful processing in the cellar and by shielding the wine from oxygen throughout the transformation process, to avoid oxidation that leads to a partial change in colour and the (equally partial) loss of the more subtle, floral and balsamic aromas, typical of the grapes. On the nose, in fact, Elat presents intense aromas of white flowers with balsamic hints. In the mouth, it is lively, with good sapidity and pleasant freshness. Notes of eucalyptus and medicinal herbs take over, giving the wine a unique personality. The finish is persistent and leaves a fresh and aromatic sensation in the mouth. Excellent as an aperitif, Elat and goes well with seafood and shellfish dishes, fish crudités, sushi and sashimi.
