Preened and pampered, Julius and his friends are treated to a lavish party and ferried down the River Nile. But when hapless antelope Felix accidentally stumbles upon the Tomb of Cleopatra, he steals a gem for his rock collection, unknowingly bringing a pharaoh’s curse down upon the group. Château de la Tour de l'Ange Julienas AOP 2022 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 14.00 £ (+0.69 £)This time we are where Pinot Noir gives way to Gamay. We are in France, and to be precise in southern Burgundy. The area is the Beaujolais, which, as history buffs know, was once occupied by Roman soldiers led by Julius Caesar. And it is to the mythical leader that the Juliénas area is dedicated, from which this wine, one of the region's most celebrated reds, comes. Recognized AOC in 1938, this area enjoys a continental climate, with cold winters that can cause several problems for the vines. This requires that plots always be placed on the best-exposed slopes, where the warm spring sun allows the clusters to reach perfect ripeness. Traditionally vinified, this red is left to mature for about 10 months on its fine lees in stainless steel vats before bottling. Purple-red color with violet hues, the nose is highlighted by pleasant aromas of black currant and blackberry. In the mouth it is extremely rich and fruity, with hints of spice to make it more intriguing. Complex, but not overly so, this red enjoys a nice long finish. Excellent with cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
