Barbera d'Alba DOC is a wine that expresses freshness, balance and simplicity, perfect for those seeking a young, versatile red. Here is the version proposed by Mauro Veglio, produced with grapes from the youngest vineyards of Cascina Nuova, the historic site of the company located in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe. Famous for their biodiversity and the quality of their soils, these are an ideal territory for viticulture. Here the vines take root in clay and limestone soils, which give the wines structure and freshness. In the case of Mauro Veglio, the grapes come from vineyards planted in the early 2000s, trained with the Guyot system. These vineyards, located in cool exposures, yield a fruity and lively wine. In the cellar, maceration on the skins starts for 6-8 days in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The same containers are used for the subsequent alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the fruity notes. Finally, the wine matures, again in steel, for a few months. It is then bottled without filtration or clarification, maintaining its natural integrity. Intense ruby red colour with purple highlights, a sign of youth and freshness. The nose reveals an intense aroma of black cherry, plum and fresh red fruits. In the mouth it is balanced, with a lively acidity typical of the variety, a well-defined minerality and a delicately savoury finish. Mauro Veglio's Barbera d'Alba is perfect with simple, tasty dishes such as pasta with tomato sauce, risottos, white meats and fresh cheeses. It is also an excellent choice for pizzas and charcuterie platters.

It comes from La Morra, one of the historic communes of the Barolo appellation. Arborina, in fact, is a small MGA, or additional geographical mention, located in the hamlet of Annunziata. The name Arborina derives from the fact that this area is rich in trees, especially oaks and hazels, which provide shade for the vines during the hot summer days. Here Nebbiolo combines power and refinement to perfection. With limestone-clay soil and south-eastern exposure, Mauro Veglio's vines, planted between the early 1970s and 1988, are rooted in mineral-rich soil. Careful and meticulous vinification involves cold maceration to enhance the freshness and fragrance of the fruit and ageing in partly new and partly used oak barrels. Arborina has a brilliant ruby red colour with garnet hues. On the nose, the bouquet is intense and complex, dominated by notes of small red fruits, such as cassis and blackcurrants, enriched by delicate spicy nuances. In the mouth, it is enveloping and persistent, with silky tannins and a vibrant acidity that balances the structure. The minerality, typical of the terroir of La Morra, gives the wine freshness and elegance. Arborina is a wine that ages beautifully, developing tertiary notes of undergrowth, leather and tobacco over time. But it is already very pleasant today, especially to accompany important and tasty dishes such as braised meats, game and mature cheeses, as well as tasty first courses and risottos.

It originates in one of the most fascinating geographical mentions of the Barolo appellation. We are in the commune of La Morra. Here, at the foot of the historic cedar of Lebanon that dominates the hillside, Mauro Veglio cultivates about 2.5 hectares of vineyards facing south-east and south-west, on calcareous and clayey soils rich in microelements. And this is where Barolo DOCG Gattera is born, in an ideal position, where the temperate climate of the Langhe favours the full ripening of Nebbiolo. The vines, planted in the early 1950s and trained using the Guyot method, produce generous bunches that are selected by hand. The subsequent vinification initially involves maceration on the skins in steel tanks for 20-25 days, starting with a cold phase to preserve the aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is also carried out, again in steel, followed by ageing for at least 24 months in French oak barriques, at least 30% of which are new and the remainder second and third passage. Finally, to maintain the integrity of the wine, it is bottled without any filtration or clarification. A pale ruby colour with garnet highlights, typical of young Barolos with potential for evolution, the nose reveals an ethereal and complex bouquet, with notes of sweet spices, ripe red fruits and a delicate floral undertone. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, with a structured body and soft tannins. The finish is balsamic and generous. Good already today, this Barolo can easily evolve for over 20 years, acquiring further complexity and harmony. Perfect with red meats, braised meats, game and mature cheeses. For lovers of terroir pairings, it can be served with a dish of agnolotti al plin or a classic Barolo braised beef.

This variety of terroir contributes to a complex and multifaceted wine, where mineral notes intertwine with fruity and spicy ones. The grapes, hand-picked and carefully selected, are vinified using traditional methods, beginning with maceration on the skins, followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, enhancing the fruity and floral aromas of Nebbiolo. This is followed by ageing in oak barrels, partly new and partly used, which gives the wine complexity and roundness. Finally, the Barolo is bottled without filtration or clarification, preserving its natural vivacity. In the glass, it has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it immediately reveals a broad and complex bouquet, with notes of violets, roses, blackberries, sweet spices and a slight hint of liquorice. In the mouth, it is warm, enveloping and persistent, with silky tannins and a long, pleasant finish. Good right from the start, this Barolo ages beautifully, developing tertiary notes of underbrush, leather and tobacco over time. On the table it accompanies important dishes such as braised meats, game and mature cheeses.
