Sons of Albion: The Inside Story of the Section 5 Squad Incorporating the Clubhouse and Smethwick Mob 30+ Years of West Brom's Hooligan Firms
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 2.37 $"From the Clubhouse in the early Eighties, morphing into Section 5 in the heyday of football violence, West Bromwich Albion's hooligan element has a rightful place in the history of terrace culture. Stemming from a multi-racial region, the mix of black, white and Asian lads battled, home and away, for more than three decades. What started in the Seventies as small mobs clashing at Cardiff, Leeds and Forest, led to the organised, fashion-conscious masses taking centre stage at the Hawthorns in the Eighties before another wave came through in the Nineties. The book charts the exploits of three main faces who helped the firm earn its reputation as well contributions from other well known names that have played a crucial part over the years. Enjoying intense rivalries with neighbours Wolves and Villa, numbers swelled as hooliganism peaked. Many also followed England around the world which led to one lad's escapades hitting the headlines in Malaysia while others found themselves detained in Japan. Now the scene has faded and banning orders prevail, the lads look back over an era that hooked thousands up and down the country and give honest accounts of their time with a potentially underrated but respected firm.

Wetland Trail Design and Construction (2007 Edition)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 70.99 $This book is specifically designed as a guide to highway engineers. It was used as a textbook for the Fhwa training courses on the above title. Several methods of analysis and design of piles under lateral loading are in use. Two methods are presented: the method of Broms, and the method where nonlinear soil-response curves, p-y curves, are employed. The latter method is given prominence because of its versatility. A computer program is presented for solving the equations giving pile deflection, rotation, bending moment, and shear. An iterative procedure is employed internally in the computer program because of the nonlinear response of the soil. Nondimensional curves are presented that can be used for "hand" solution of the differential equation. Nondimensional solutions are useful as a means of checking computer output and to provide insight into the nature of the problem.

Plucker
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 150.00 $The Plucker, now updated with new art and an afterword from world-renowned dark fantasy artist Brom, is a window into a world where fairy-tale tradition collides with vileness and depravity, love and heroism, suffering and sacrifice. In this shadowy land of make-believe, Jack and his box are stuck beneath the bed with the dust, spiders, and other castaway toys, and forced to face a bitter truth: Children grow up, and toys are left behind. Jack thinks this is the worst fate that can befall a toy. But when the Plucker, a malevolent spirit, is set loose upon the world of make-believe, Jack is thrust into the unlikely role of defending Thomas, the very child who abandoned him, and learns that there are worse ends for a toy than abandonment. As desperation mounts, Jack is thrown together with Thomas’s other toys—Monkey, the Nutcracker, and the ethereally beautiful porcelain doll Snow Angel—as they struggle to rise above their simple roles as playthings and save the boy they love.

Krampus: The Yule Lord
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 20.41 $“Terrific. A wild ride....I loved it. It hooked me and I couldn’t put it down.”—Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy"Brom is that rare breed: a person who is skilled in more than one area of artistic expression. Here's hoping that he will continue to share his dark and often beautiful dreams with us for many years to come." Christopher Paolini, New York Times bestselling author of EragonAcclaimed author and artist Brom raised eyebrows and pulse rates with The Child Thief, his grim, brilliantly audacious, gorgeously illustrated reimagining of the Peter Pan legend. So what does this innovative fantasist do for an encore? He tinkers darkly with the beloved mythology of Santa Claus. Set in Appalachia, Krampus the Yule Lord is a twisted fairytale about a failed West Virginia songwriter who gets ensnared on Christmas Eve in an eternal war between a not-so-saintly Saint Nick and his dark enemy Krampus, aka Black Peter, an ancient trickster demon. Krampus the Yule Lord is Gregory Maguire (Wicked) meets Susanna Clarke (Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell) in the realm of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, as Clive Barker (Mr. B. Gone) works his dark sorcery from the shadows. Once again featuring Brom’s chillingly beautiful artwork throughout, Krampus the Yule Lord is a feast of wonder straight from the kitchen of Sweeney Todd.
