Each entry word is followed by lists, in Hebrew, of basic meanings, related words, and combined forms in which the word appears. Then comes the listing of each appearance of the word, with context and in canonical order. These Hebrew "quotations" are numbered, and the editor puts these numbers to good use. Each of the basic meaning for the entry word is folowed by numbers indicating the instances in which the word bear this meaning. And each combined form similarly is succeeded by numbers directing one to the passages in which it appears.

Originally published in 1897, it has remained in print ever since. It is beyond any doubt the most useful basic tool available for the student of the New Testament. This concordance to the complete extant works of Livy was compiled at the Harvard Computing Center and contains approximately 500,000 entries. The Oxford Text was used for Books I–XXXV, the Teubner for XXXVI–XLV. All words, including el, have been catalogued, and each word is accompanied by about twenty words of its context. Words are alphabetized in the form in which they occur in the text without being organized under normalized dictionary headings; repeated instances of the same word are arranged according to the words that follow in the context, thereby producing an index of phrases as well as words. The concordance was set in type by computerized photocomposition.
