Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 35.47 $The Curly-Coated Retriever is a true specialized hunting dog that can outswim, outrun, and outclass any of the sporting breeds. Prized for his mass of small crisp curls, colored in solid black or liver, the Curly-Coated Retriever is also the dog world’s best kept secret, as his devoted fans attest. Retriever specialist and award-winning author Nona Kilgore Bauer has written this Comprehensive Owner’s Guide to introduce the Curly to potential owners, surveying the breed’s fascinating but muddy origins, examining the Curly’s characteristics and personality, and giving sound advice about selecting, caring, and training this very special sporting dog.New owners will welcome the well-prepared chapter on finding a reputable breeder and selecting a healthy, sound puppy. Chapters on puppy-proofing the home and yard, purchasing the right supplies for the puppy as well as house-training, feeding, and grooming are illustrated with photographs of handsome adults and puppies. In all, there are over 135 full-color photographs in this useful and reliable volume. The author’s advice on obedience training will help the reader better mold and train into the most well-mannered dog in the neighborhood. The extensive and lavishly illustrated chapter on healthcare provides up-to-date detailed information on selecting a qualified veterinarian, vaccinations, preventing and dealing with parasites, infectious diseases, and more. Grey Mima Sheep Blanket J.j.textile
Vendor: Wolfandbadger.com Price: 203.00 $Ewe will love the curly-coated sheep design of the Mima grey stitched blanket. Created from a carefully blended mix of pure wool and cotton (80%: 20%), this blanket is as soft as the sheep that feature on it. The fashionable grey colour will work wonderfully with today’s modern colour schemes. 80% Wool 20% Cotton; Reversible Blanket; Colour - Grey/Off White Wool Product Care All wool is washable, you just need to know how to handle it properly to keep its softness and longevity. How we dry a washed wool product is also very important. Do not wash your wool unless absolutely necessary. Like all soft furnishing products, wool loves fresh air and a light breeze so if you think your wool product needs freshening up, try hanging it outside for a few hours on a nice day but keep it out of strong sunlight. Cold Machine-Washing Wool When washing a wool product in an automatic washing machine please use the delicate programmes – cold wash, wool wash, hand wash, no more than 30 degrees – and wash on its own (1 throw per wash), not with any other items. Please do not use a powder detergent, just liquid. You could also use special wool fabric softeners, but only a very small amount and rinse your throw thoroughly afterwards as leaving some of the softener in the item could cause stains, unpleasant odour or provoke allergies. Cold Hand Washing Wool For smaller items like little blankets and cushion covers you may want to wash them by hand. Fill a bathtub or large bucket with lukewarm water, add some mild soap suitable for washing wool and leave your wool item to soak for about an hour. After it has soaked gently rub any soiled parts using another part of the throw or cushion cover. When it has been washed all over drain the water then refill with clean water and leave to soak for another 15 minutes – you can repeat this several times until you are happy all of the soap has been washed out. Then follow the recommendations below for drying. Do Not Bleach Wool Please do not bleach a wool product as it will destroy the wool fibre and will spoil your woollen item. Drying Wool Do not tumble dry your wool product. Instead we advise you to lay it flat to dry. When you take the item out of the machine, or have finished hand washing, it will be quite wet so gently squeeze out any excess water (do not wring!). Lay it down on top of a cotton towel on a flat surface, smoothing out any wrinkles (if it is a large item then fold it carefully to a quarter of the size). It is essential that the item is placed on top of an absorbent material, such as a towel, as the moisture from the wool will be absorbed downwards. Change the towel underneath regularly until the wool is completely dry (if the weather is nice this can be done outside but remember to keep it out of direct sunlight). Do not shake or hang a wet wool product as this could cause damage. Ironing Wool You can gently iron a wool product using the steam settings on your iron. Do not press too hard, to keep the softness,...

Villager Jim's Highland Cows
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 47.37 $Hugely charismatic, the Highland cattle breed is the focus of this photographic tribute to one of Britain’s most popular farm animals. These long-horned, curly coated cows are amongst the many now famous subjects featured in Villager Jim’s daily online photographic adventures, which have gained nearly 200,000 followers.Jim often wanders amongst the herds throughout the seasons, taking shots from many different angles as they graze on moorland, heathland, woodland copses and lush green farmland. Getting close to one to photograph is always a respectful journey; although they are normally very peaceful animals, Jim is always mindful to stay within their field of view and not invade their space too much.Despite rarely seeing their eyes, many of Jim’s shots have a comedy element to them, with the cows’ fondness for constant nose cleaning and their serious but amusing expressions semi-hidden behind masses of tangly hair.Through this book, Jim is very proud to help grow the following for this most beautiful breed of cattle.
