Longitudinal Research, Methods and Uses in Behavioral Science
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 167.11 $This volume is the product of a course on longitudinal prospective re search arranged by the three editors in Arhus, Denmark, in 1978. The course was supported by the Nordisk Kulturfond for young researchers from the Nordic countries, who had planned or had simply involved themselves in longitudinal prospective research projects of various kinds. The twenty-six participants represented a wide range of professions: statisticians, psychologists, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and public health researchers. The teachers came from many countries and represented many disciplines. The course was very successful, especially from the point of view of the quality and investment of the teachers. We felt also that the course met a strong need in this relatively new field of research. Therefore, we asked the teachers to prepare written versions of their lectures so that they could have wider dissemination; they agreed to do so. The present book is composed of these contributions. The first chap ter, after outlining some of the problems with traditional strategies in mental health research, goes on to suggest some of the possible preven tive applications of longitudinal research methods. Included in Parts II and III are papers on design problems and on the tools of long-term research, such as genetics and classification, biological measurements, epidemiological guidelines, statistical models, disease registers, and de velopmental psychology.

Longitudinal analysis of labor market data
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 22.55 $Longitudinal Analysis of Labor Market Data presents a set of papers by leading scholars on methods for analysing the longitudinal data that is available on numerous topics of interest to social scientists. Because many sources of longitudinal data record labour market phenomena such as unemployment, labour supply, earnings mobility, job turnover and participation in training programmes, all of the papers collected in this volume focus on models of the labour market. The main methodological points, however, are more general and apply to such diverse areas as demography, life science analysis and training evaluation, to name only a few, potential avenues of application. The book contains important methodological contributions to the emerging field of longitudinal analysis and is of interest to a wide range of social scientists.

Longitudinal and Panel Data: Analysis and Applications in the Social Sciences
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 38.39 $Focusing on an analysis of models and data that arise from repeated observations of a cross-section of individuals, households or firms, this book also covers important applications within business, economics, education, political science and other social science disciplines. The author introduces the foundations of longitudinal and panel data analysis at a level suitable for quantitatively oriented social science graduate students as well as individual researchers. He emphasizes mathematical and statistical fundamentals but also demonstrates substantive applications from across the social sciences. These applications are enhanced by real-world data sets and software programs in SAS and Stata.

Longitudinal Structural Equation Modeling (Methodology in the Social Sciences Series)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 67.47 $Featuring actual datasets as illustrative examples, this book reveals numerous ways to apply structural equation modeling (SEM) to any repeated-measures study. Initial chapters lay the groundwork for modeling a longitudinal change process, from measurement, design, and specification issues to model evaluation and interpretation. Covering both big-picture ideas and technical "how-to-do-it" details, the author deftly walks through when and how to use longitudinal confirmatory factor analysis, longitudinal panel models (including the multiple-group case), multilevel models, growth curve models, and complex factor models, as well as models for mediation and moderation. User-friendly features include equation boxes that clearly explain the elements in every equation, end-of-chapter glossaries, and annotated suggestions for further reading. The companion website (www.guilford.com/little-materials) provides datasets for all of the examples--which include studies of bullying, adolescent students' emotions, and healthy aging--with syntax and output from LISREL, Mplus, and R (lavaan).

Multilevel and Longitudinal Modeling Using Stata, Second Edition
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 79.97 $Multilevel and Longitudinal Modeling Using Stata, Second Edition discusses regression modeling of clustered or hierarchical data, such as data on students nested in schools, patients in hospitals, or employees in firms. Longitudinal data are also clustered with, for instance, repeated measurements on patients or several panel waves per survey respondent. Multilevel and longitudinal modeling can exploit the richness of such data and can disentangle processes operating at different levels. Assuming some knowledge of linear regression, this bestseller explains models and their assumptions, applies methods to real data using Stata, and shows how to interpret the results. The applications and exercises span a wide range of disciplines, making the book suitable for courses on multilevel and longitudinal modeling in the medical, social, and behavioral sciences and in applied statistics. This extensively revised second edition includes 3 new chapters, comprehensive updates for Stata 10, 38 new exercises, and 27 new data sets. The authors teach multilevel and longitudinal modeling at their universities and frequently hold workshops at international conferences. They have been developing a general modeling framework, GLLAMM, and Stata software gllamm for multilevel and latent variable modeling. This work has been published in their highly acclaimed book Generalized Latent Variable Modeling: Multilevel, Longitudinal, and Structural Equation Models and in many journals, including Biometrics, Psychometrika, Journal of Econometrics, and Journal of the Royal Statistical Society.
