Repeated Games and Reputations : Long-run Relationships
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 141.17 $Personalized and continuing relationships play a central role in any society. Economists have built upon the theories of repeated games and reputations to make important advances in understanding such relationships. Repeated Games and Reputations begins with a careful development of the fundamental concepts in these theories, including the notions of a repeated game, strategy, and equilibrium. Mailath and Samuelson then present the classic folk theorem and reputation results for games of perfect and imperfect public monitoring, with the benefit of the modern analytical tools of decomposability and self-generation. They also present more recent developments, including results beyond folk theorems and recent work in games of private monitoring and alternative approaches to reputations. Repeated Games and Reputations synthesizes and unifies the vast body of work in this area, bringing the reader to the research frontier. Detailed arguments and proofs are given throughout, interwoven with examples, discussions of how the theory is to be used in the study of relationships, and economic applications. The book will be useful to those doing basic research in the theory of repeated games and reputations as well as those using these tools in more applied research.

Repeated Takes : A Short History of Recording and Its Effects on Music
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 24.22 $Repeated Takes is the first general book on the history of the recording industry, covering the entire field from Edison’s talking tin foil of 1877 to the age of the compact disc.Michael Chanan considers the record as a radically new type of commodity which turned the intangible performance of music into a saleable object, and describes the upset which this caused in musical culture. He asks: What goes on in a recording studio? How does it affect the music? Do we listen to music differently because of reproduction?Repeated Takes relates the growth and development of the industry, both technically and economically; the effects of the microphone on interpretation in both classical and popular music; and the impact of all these factors on musical styles and taste. This highly readable book also traces the connections between the development of recording and the rise of new forms of popular music, and discusses arguments among classical musicians about microphone technique and studio practice.

Analysis of Repeated Measures (c
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 78.36 $Repeated measures data arise when the same characteristic is measured on each case or subject at several times or under several conditions. There is a multitude of techniques available for analysing such data and in the past this has led to some confusion. This book describes the whole spectrum of approaches, beginning with very simple and crude methods, working through intermediate techniques commonly used by consultant statisticians, and concluding with more recent and advanced methods. Those covered include multiple testing, response feature analysis, univariate analysis of variance approaches, multivariate analysis of variance approaches, regression models, two-stage line models, approaches to categorical data and techniques for analysing crossover designs. The theory is illustrated with examples, using real data brought to the authors during their work as statistical consultants.

Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 20.00 $Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated) examines the impulse toward reduction, restraint, and lucidity in postwar art. Drawing on the Guggenheim's exceptional holdings of minimalist painting and singular sculpture, Singular Forms begins with Robert Rauschenberg's historic White Painting (1951), a stark, monochrome canvas. This seminal work establishes twin trajectories in the development of contemporary art: the elimination of all extraneous details to achieve an art of pure, essential form, and the attention to issues of perception. After a prologue including other examples of radical, monochrome paintings by Ellsworth Kelly, Frank Stella, and Ad Reinhardt, Singular Forms explores how these parallel artistic strategies were manifest in Minimalist and Conceptual art of the 1960s and 70s through the work of Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Agnes Martin, and Lawrence Weiner, among others. Minimalism's impact on subsequent generations of contemporary artists begins with Postminimalism, which utilized the movement's deliberate paucity of formal means to explore a range of concerns including process, the dematerialization of the object, the performative nature of art, and the structural properties of light. Artists such as Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, James Turrell, and Richard Long are included in this section. What follows are artists schooled in the deconstructivist tendencies of Postmodernism--such as Robert Gober, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, and Roni Horn--who resuscitated Minimalism as a style, infusing its unitary, nonreferential forms with content to bring to the fore trenchant cultural issues. Singular Forms concludes with recent work that shares the look of classic Minimalist art, but uses it to communicate deeply personal, political, or poetic messages. Also examined is the reach of Minimalism and Conceptualism beyond the visual arts into film, choreography, music, design, and architecture.

Packard Bell Analyzing Repeated Surveys,(pb)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 41.07 $Repeated surveys -- a technique for asking the same questions to different samples of people -- allows researchers the opportunity to analyze changes in society as a whole. This book begins with a discussion of the classic issue of how to separate cohort, period, and age effects. It then covers methods for modeling aggregate trends; two methods for estimating cohort replacement's contribution to aggregate trends, a decomposition model for clarifying how microchange contributes to aggregate change, and simple models that are useful for the assessment of changing individual-level effects.

Gerhard Richter: Patterns: Divided, Mirrored, Repeated
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 13.85 $Patterns represents a brilliant new adventure in image-making and book-making by Gerhard Richter, who in recent years has produced several fascinating explorations of the possibilities of the artist’s book. For this latest project, Richter took an image of his work “Abstract Painting” (CR: 7244) and divided it vertically into strips: first 2, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1,024, 2,048, up to 4,096 strips. This process, involving twelve stages of division, results in 8,190 strips, each of which is reproduced here at the height of the original image. With each stage of division, the strips become progressively thinner (a strip of the 12th division is just 0.08 millimeters; further divisions would only become visible by enlargement). Each strip is then mirrored and repeated, producing an incredibly detailed patterning. The number of repetitions increases with each stage of division in order to make patterns of consistent size. The resulting 221 patterns are reproduced here on landscape spreads, making for a truly extraordinary reading-viewing book experience.Born in Dresden, East Germany, in 1932, Gerhard Richter migrated to West Germany in 1961, settling in Düsseldorf, where he studied at the Düsseldorf Academy, and where he held his first solo exhibition in 1963. Over the course of that decade, Richter helped to liberate painting from the legacy of Socialist Realism (in Eastern Germany) and Abstract Expressionism (in Western Germany and throughout Europe). He has exhibited internationally for the last five decades, with a major European touring retrospective in London, Berlin and Paris in 2012. He lives and works in Cologne.

Regression Methods in Biostatistics: Linear, Logistic, Survival, and Repeated Measures Models (Statistics for Biology and Health)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 77.17 $Here is a unified, readable introduction to multipredictor regression methods in biostatistics, including linear models for continuous outcomes, logistic models for binary outcomes, the Cox model for right-censored survival times, and generalized linear models for counts and other outcomes. The authors describe shared elements in methods for selecting, estimating, checking, and interpreting each model, and show that these regression methods deal with confounding, mediation, and interaction of causal effects in essentially the same way.
