David and the troops witness the balloons used by the Union soldiers, see the incredibly beautiful countryside of Virginia, befriend the enemy as they swap newspapers, experienced a revival, and enjoy the fruits and vegetables available in this beautiful land...then the fighting continues. David writes about various leaders involved in this war: Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Stonewall Jackson, General Lee, Colonel McDowell, and General Grant. He also reports about the aftermath of Gettysburg. This little book is a great reference for history buffs interested in the real day to day soldier’s life during the Civil War.
