Field Manual Fm 4-25.11 (Fm 21-11) - First Aid Including Change 1 Issued, July 2004 Also Ntrp 4-02.1.1 Afman 44-163(i), Mcrp 3-02g
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 29.23 $This manual meets the first aid training needs of individual service members. Because medical personnel will not always be readily available, the nonmedical service members must rely heavily on their own skills and knowledge of life-sustaining methods to survive on the integrated battlefield. This publication outlines both self-aid and aid to other service members (buddy aid). More importantly, it emphasizes prompt and effective action in sustaining life and preventing or minimizing further suffering and disability. First aid is the emergency care given to the sick, injured, or wounded before being treated by medical personnel. The term first aid can be defined as ?urgent and immediate lifesaving and other measures, which can be performed for casualties by nonmedical personnel when medical personnel are not immediately available.? Nonmedical service members have received basic first aid training and should remain skilled in the correct procedures for giving first aid. This manual is directed to all service members. The procedures discussed apply to all types of casualties and the measures described are for use by both male and female service members.

The History of English Law Before the Time of Edward I. Volume Ii
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 2.25 $specific precedents (exempla) may have been alleged in court 1; in Edward I.'s day the pleaders are already citing and 'distinguishing' previous cases 3; but as a general rule the judges, [p. 163] assisted by clerks, who were on their way to become judges, would regard themselves as having an implicit knowledge of the consuetudo curiae and would not feel bound to argue about past cases. The justices of the bench would often be fully justified in behaving thus; many of them were experienced men who had worked their way upwards through all the ranks of the king's court and chancery. And so even the knights who were employed to take assizes in their shires, though they had read no law, would believe that they knew the law and custom applicable to the cases that came before them. Every man who does his duty knows a great deal of law and custom: the difficulty is to persuade him that he does not know everything2. The custom of the king's court is the custom of England, and becomes the common law. As to local customs, the king's justices will in general phrases express their respect for them4. We see no signs of any consciously conceived desire to root them out5. None the less, if they are not being destroyed, their further growth is checked. Especially in all matters of procedure, the king's court, which is now obtaining a thorough control over all other courts, is apt to treat its own as the only just rules2. A heavy burden of proof is cast upon those 1 Note Book, pi. 1213: the Earl of Chester appeals to cases concerning other palatine earls. Ibid. pi. 1227: in the exceedingly important case raising the qnestion whether a palatinate can be partitioned, the magnates reject foreign precedents; 'nec voluerunt iudicare per exempla usitata in partibua transmarinis.' In 1291 the Earl of Glouces...

Fitz Randolph Traditions: A Story of a Thousand Years (Classic Reprint)
Vendor: Abebooks.com Price: 22.57 $Excerpt from Fitz Randolph: Traditions, a Story of a Thousand YearsIn my own modest narrative, and in the diagram and outline given at the end of this prefatory chapter, I ven ture to prefer Gale's lines to Dugdale's, and even to so important and accurate an authority as Hume, who, on page 163 of the first volume of his History of England, tells us in effect that the great Alan, who joined the in jvading William with a large force of fighting men, was the son of Hoe] and grandson of Conan, Duke of Brit tany; and several encyclopedic and historical writers have fashioned their records, as to the facts here in volved, on Hume's model. In the course of preparing his book the writer has come into the rare good fortune of owning a well-pre served copy of Roger Gale's Honoris de Richmond. In fluenced by an old tradition that Gale had, two hundred years ago, outlined the family history, he had sought the book throughout England with the same zest evinced by John Burroughs in his pursuit of the nightingale through that delightful country, and it had evaded him. After much search he was by special permission permitted to have a few pages transcribed from a copy of the book possessed by an old library. When at last a singular op portunity was ofiered for acquiring ownership of the valued volume, he gladly availed of it, and has studied diligently this universally respected authority. It is in demi-folio form, well printed - partly in colors - and con tains some beautiful engravings. No small part of its clear Latin text has reference to the facts and lines of the Fitz Randolph family.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
