Like St. Paul, Teilhard wrote much about the risen Lord and the mystical body of Christ and very little about the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. This is a fine collection of letters by the mystic-scientist Teilhard de Chardin to his close friend and fellow scientist, the Jesuit Pierre Leroy. The correspondence shows the personal and human side of Teilhard and is of special interest to the American reader because it contains the letters he wrote during his years in New York City, immediately before his death there in 1955. This book is important not only because it reveals this great Christian's hidden life, but also because it sheds a great deal of light on the direction his professional life was taking at the time of his death.
