Exposition du 13 juillet au 31 octobre 2013 dans le cadre du festival "Normandie Impressionniste" 27 avril au 29 septembre 2013 Catalogue bilingue français japonais de l'exposition consacrée au célèbre peintre japonais Hiramatsu Reiji (né à Tokyo en 1941), grand maître du nihonga, la peinture traditionnelle japonaise. Venu sur les traces de Monet pour la première fois en 1994, l'artiste a exploré le célèbre bassin aux nymphéas, à Giverny. Cette expérience lui insuffle une énergie nouvelle pour partir à la rencontre de l'Impressionnisme et du japonisme de Monet. L'art japonais a influencé Claude Monet comme l'attestent ses œuvres, sa fabuleuse collection d'estampes japonaises, mais également son jardin, patiemment élaboré pendant plus de vingt ans à partir de 1883, date de son installation dans la maison du Pressoir où il résidera jusqu'à sa mort. Il transforma le jardin en enclos de fleurs, puis acheta une parcelle en contrebas de sa propriété et entreprit d'y aménager un jardin d'eau, auquel il adjoignit un pont japonais. Présentation de plus d'une trentaine d'œuvres (peintures, dessins et estampes) de Hiramatsu Reiji - dont 5 majestueux paravents, peints selon la technique traditionnelle du nihonga -, qui allient tradition et modernité, ainsi que plusieurs œuvres de Monet permettant une confrontation des influences croisées. L'ouvrage met en avant également une trentaine des plus belles estampes de la collection de Claude Monet (de Hiroshige à Utamaro, en passant par Hokusai), témoignage de sa passion pour l'art japonais.
