Torre Zambra "Colle Maggio" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC Riserva 2020 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 22.00 £ (+0.69 £)Tradition and complexity. All this is the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva DOC of Torre Zambra, a perfect balance of authenticity and refinement. This wine originates in Villamagna, a small village nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the slopes of Majella. Here, the unique microclimate created by the alternation of sea breezes and mountain currents, combined with the limestone-clay soil, allows the cultivation of grapes of extraordinary quality. To obtain the 'Riserva' designation, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo must age for at least 24 months, part of which in wood, thus guaranteeing complexity and harmony. Harvesting takes place at the end of October, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness. The long maceration on the skins, which lasts 45 days, allows the extraction of colour, tannins and intense aromas. After an initial ageing phase in vitrified cement for 6 months, the wine rests in French and Slavonian oak tonneaux for 12 months. These woods, 40% new and 60% second-hand, give the wine complexity and depth. The final stage of bottle ageing, lasting 6 months, allows the wine to achieve perfect balance. Deep ruby red in colour, with hints tending towards garnet, the nose opens with intense notes of dark chocolate, leather and coffee, with a slight hint of spices. In the mouth there is a perfect taste-olfactory correspondence: cocoa and coffee return with intensity, accompanied by a pleasantly peppery and persistent finish. The soft, well-integrated tannins guarantee an elegant, enveloping sip. Good already today, this Riserva from Torre Zambra is ideal to drink within 10 years, during which it can develop further aromatic nuances. Stewed red meats, barbecued meats and mature cheeses are its ideal companions.

Torre Zambra "Poggio Salaia" Pecorino Terre di Chiesti IGT 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.89 £ (+0.69 £)Poggio Salaia, Pecorino IGT by Torre Zambra, is an organic wine. It is produced in Villamagna, a unique area between the Adriatic Sea and Majella. Pecorino is one of the oldest indigenous grape varieties in central Italy, characterised by extraordinary adaptability and the ability to offer fresh, complex wines. Interesting curiosity: the name 'Pecorino' is said to derive from the fact that sheep used to graze its particularly sweet grapes during transhumance. Its vinification begins with a 60-hour maceration of the skins, a process that allows the best possible extraction of aromas and structure. After fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees in stainless steel vats for two months, a step that amplifies the organoleptic characteristics and gives the wine greater complexity. This is followed by further bottle ageing for a further two months before release. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections, intense citrus notes emerge on the nose, with lemon in the foreground, accompanied by light nuances of white flowers and a slight minerality. In the mouth, the initial freshness gives way to a well-marked savouriness, which makes the wine intriguing and pleasantly complex. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant sensation of cleanliness and harmony. It goes well with fish dishes such as grilled meats, carpaccio and seafood soups. Also good with fresh cheeses, grilled vegetables and delicate risottos.

Torre Fornello "Musica" Pinot Nero Emilia IGT 2021 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.29 £ (+0.69 £)Elegant and refined Pinot Noir, made in Emilia Romagna. We are talking about Musica, Emilia IGT, proposed here by Torre Fornello. The name 'Musica' suggests a symphony of flavours and aromas that intertwine harmoniously. Just like a well-orchestrated musical composition. Produced in Ziano Piacentino, in the heart of the Emilian hills, this wine originates in an area particularly suited to viticulture. The vineyards extend over hilly terrain characterised by clay and limestone soils, with a climate that benefits from wide temperature ranges between day and night. An organic regime is adopted in the countryside, to preserve biodiversity and the natural balance of the environment. Pinot Noir is certainly not a grape variety that needs an introduction. A grape of French origin of great prestige, Pinot Noir is known for its difficulty in cultivation. Used in purity, it succeeds here in expressing all its elegance and complexity. For this wine, Torre Fornello chooses only the ripest bunches, harvested by hand, guaranteeing impeccable quality. After the harvest, vinification involves fermentation at a controlled temperature and ageing for 6 months, half in wood and half in steel. This balanced ageing allows Pinot Noir Musica to develop a complex, yet fresh and refined aromatic profile. In the glass Musica is a beautiful intense ruby red colour. The nose is rich and varied, dominated by fruity notes of cherry and red fruits, accompanied by spicy nuances reminiscent of pepper and vanilla. In the mouth it is a round and full wine, with an elegant structure and good balance. It goes well with savoury and rich dishes. Try it with bean soup, with pork, especially Mora Romagnola, semi-mature cheeses and cured meats.

Torre Fornello "Dorian" Rosso Emilia IGT 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.29 £ (+0.69 £)Inspired by Dorian Gray, the charming protagonist of Oscar Wilde's famous novel, this wine is a celebration of youth and beauty. But unlike Wilde's character, the Dorian proposed here by Torre Fornello evolves, refines and improves with time, acquiring complexity and elegance. Dorian is born in the hills of Ziano Piacentino, a privileged area of the Val Tidone in Emilia Romagna, famous for its long tradition of winemaking. Here, the varied soils and continental climate, characterised by good temperature ranges between day and night, favour a slow ripening of the grapes. Torre Fornello also adopts organic cultivation that protects biodiversity and the health of the environment. Composed of a mix of grape varieties with 30% Barbera, 30% Bonarda, or rather Croatina, 10% Pinot Noir, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to which a further 20% of other grapes are added. In the cellar, the vinification of Dorian begins with a long maceration in contact with the skins for 20 days to extract the maximum aromas, tannins and colour from the grapes. Part of the wine, about 10% of the mass is then refined in oak barrels for 3 months, acquiring greater complexity and softness. To the eye, Dorian has a brilliant ruby red colour. The nose offers a concentrated yet refined bouquet, with notes of wild berries, black cherry and liquorice, enriched by spicy touches of white pepper. In the mouth it is soft and velvety, with silky tannins and a long, enveloping persistence. The flavour is enriched by balsamic nuances, accompanied by notes of cocoa, leather and liquorice, giving depth and complexity to the sip. Thanks to its structure and fine complexity, Dorian is an extremely versatile wine for pairing. It goes well with meat dishes such as grilled meats and stews. Ideal with pasta with meat sauce, lasagne or cannelloni.

Torre Mora Etna Rosso "Scalunera" DOC 2020 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 2.29 £ (+0.69 £)We are in one of Italy's most fascinating wine-growing areas. We are on Mount Etna, 'the' volcano, appreciated by millions of enthusiasts for its extraordinary properties. The balance of its microclimate is guaranteed by the volcanic nature of the soil, the altitude of the vineyards, which can be as high as 600-700 metres, and the considerable temperature range between day and night. The name Scalunera, which in Sicilian means 'flight of steps', evokes the evocative panorama that cradles this wine. The flanks of Etna are in fact lined with a jumble of lava stone walls reminiscent of the steps of an ancient amphitheatre. A red wine from the territory, Scalunera is made from a selection of Nerello Mascalese grapes with the addition of a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio (Nerello Mascalese 97% - Nerello Cappuccio 3%), grapes from organically grown vineyards. After vinification, the wine rests for 24 months in oak barrels and, after bottling, for at least another 4 months in the bottle. An expressive and complex red, Scalunera surprises with its intense aromas of red fruits, dates and a slight smokiness. Soft on the palate and concentrated, it is characterised by a savoury finish in harmony with silky tannins. An elegant, meditation wine, it is perfect with traditional Sicilian meat dishes such as pork and lamb, but also with tasty fish, goat cheese and vegetables.

Torre Fornello "Pratobianco" Bianco Emilia IGT 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.69 £ (+0.69 £)Pratobianco, Emilia Bianco IGT by Torre Fornello, was born in Ziano Piacentino, Emilia Romagna. The name Pratobianco refers to the cadastral parcel where the three grape varieties that give life to this wine are cultivated. Pratobianco, in fact, is a blend of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Sauvignon, both 40%, and Chardonnay for the remainder. Each grape variety brings unique characteristics. Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, in particular, is rich in intense aromas and gives the wine a distinct aromaticity. Sauvignon for its part contributes freshness, acidity and herbaceous notes. Chardonnay, finally, lends structure, smoothness and a touch of buttery elegance. The Sauvignon and Malvasia grapes are only processed and matured for a period of no less than 6-9 months. The Chardonnay, on the other hand, is processed in French oak barrels from the Allier forest. Here it undergoes fermentation and ageing. This dual approach, with part of the wine maturing in wood, creates a perfect balance between freshness and structure. In the Pratobianco glass it has a beautiful bright straw yellow colour, enhanced by delicate greenish reflections. The nose reveals an intense and persistent bouquet, with complex aromatic notes reminiscent of herbs, such as sage, oregano and thyme, and hints of green pepper, exotic fruit and elderflower. In the mouth, it is dry, full and elegant, with a nice structure and balanced acidity. The slight woody note, brought by the Chardonnay's ageing in wood, then adds depth and refinement. Ideal with seafood salads, burrata, cured meats and grilled vegetables. Try it with spinach and ricotta tortelli, dressed with melted butter and sage.

Torre Zambra "Passo Sacro" Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC 2024 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.89 £ (+0.69 £)Passo Sacro is a delicate Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC signed by Torre Zambra. A rosé that expresses the best of Abruzzo's winemaking tradition, this wine is born in Villamagna, in the province of Chieti, on hills between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella mountain range, two natural elements that combine to create strong temperature swings between day and night, ideal for obtaining fresh wines rich in aromas. Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC is not a simple rosé, but a nationally and internationally recognised expression of excellence. It is distinguished by its cherry colour and typical aromas and flavours that are directly reminiscent of Montepulciano, the native vine from which it originates. Passo Sacro is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes harvested at the end of September. The skins remain in contact with the must for about 60 hours, until the characteristic intense cherry colour is obtained. Ageing takes place on fine lees in stainless steel vats for 2 months, followed by a further 2 months in the bottle to ensure greater harmony and freshness to the final product. Passo Sacro has a brilliant colour. On the nose, it reveals a rich and immediate bouquet, dominated by notes of fresh cherries that also return with great consistency on the palate. The taste is characterised by a pleasant freshness, perfectly balanced by the taste-olfactory correspondence, which keeps the cherry as the absolute protagonist right through to the finish. This rosé stands out for its balance, being fresh and lively but at the same time soft and enveloping.

Torre Fornello "Gutturnio" Frizzante Colli Piacentini DOC 2022 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Vendor: Svinando.co.uk Price: 1.45 £ (+0.69 £)Authenticity and winemaking tradition in Emilia Romagna. This Colli Piacentini DOC Gutturnio Frizzante from Torre Fornello represents all this. A genuine wine that comes from an area rich in history and highly vocated, this Gutturnio originates from vineyards in Ziano Piacentino, a small municipality situated in the hills. An area known for the variety of its soils and favourable climate. The name Gutturnio derives from the ancient Roman vessel, the 'gutturnium', used for drinking wine during banquets. Specifically, this one proposed by Torre Fornello is a blend of 60% Barbera and 40% Bonarda, or rather Croatina, two grape varieties that together give life to a wine characterised by a beautiful pleasantness. The Barbera, in particular, is known for its acidity and freshness, and gives the wine great drinkability. Croatina, for its part, brings softness, body and an aromatic bouquet reminiscent of berries. After the grapes are harvested, Barbera and Bonarda are vinified separately. This starts with maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature for about 7-10 days. Once fermentation is complete, the two masses are cold-assembled and re-fermentation takes place in an autoclave, according to the Charmat method. To the eye, this sparkling wine from Piacenza has a brilliant ruby red colour. The nose is fresh and vinous, with clear notes of berries, such as blueberries and raspberries. In the mouth it is rich, full and persistent, with a flavour reminiscent of ripe berries. The slight effervescence enhances the freshness, inviting a second sip. Designed to be consumed young, this wine is perfect to accompany traditional Emilian dishes.
